Nightmare on Buccaneer lane

A grieving widow is already going through a whole lot of loss and grief, due to which most of the time she is unable to even make sense of the world around her. This saddening time also brings with it a deep emotional scar that weighs heavily on her heart. This was the case with Dr. Rima Alexander when her husband passed away from Stage IV pancreatic cancer.

Following a nightly medication routine for her complex medical conditions, Dr. Alexander started experiencing extreme anxiety, hallucinations, and fear. One night an unexpected and terrifying incident occurs, which triggers her call for help. She was rushed to the hospital due to a plummeting and potentially fatal blood pressure of 70/40 (one of the symptoms of an Adrenal Insufficiency crisis that wasn’t diagnosed). However, it was later misinterpreted as a psychiatric illness. Thus, transforming her from patient to “ward of the state” overnight under police officers’ commands.

Despite no psychiatric history, Dr. Alexander is then sent for a remote evaluation. It’s where the tale of dehumanizing and medical neglect begins to unfold in “Nightmare on Buccaneer Lane.”
